Welcome to the TRIST web site.

This site is aimed at supporting the TRIST tool. TRIST is a 3-part system for indexing personal documents and instigating searches of those files based on content, not file properties.

Most operating systems come equipped with more then adequate search facilities providing you know the details of the file you are looking for. For those who have extensive collections of documents or use non-descipt filenames, the TRIST tool can benefit you by allowing you to search your documents by the words that they contain.

In this respect the TRIST tool is similar to popular search engines on the web which is why it includes its own web-interface for searching. If you have a stand-alone web-server such as Apache, IIS or Personal web server on your PC then you can utilise this facilty. You can also use this to add a search section to your company intranet of even your own web sites.

TRIST is composed of a database shell (implemented in Access 2000), an indexing application written in Java and a web interface developed using VBScript ASP. To use TRIST you must support these technologies.
