Indexing Other Sites

In this version, indexing others sites is not available unless you have a local copy of the source files. Taking the earlier example of the trist-online and search.trist-online sites. Because a local copy of trist-online is present and available to the TRIST tool, it can be defined as a ‘Watch Folder’ and the URL set to ‘http://www.trist-online.co.uk’. The site search.trist-online can now reference documents from within the trist-online site because the file structure is the same in the local copy as the hosted version.

This might be useful should you have several sites under your authority i.e. several domains or international sites. If you manage sites for several organisations, it would give you the facility to search all your clients sites collectively. This would allow you a centralised search.

Future releases of TRIST might include a web-bot capable of trawling sites and generating indexes using http requests.
